Alfred, NY- The Alfred State Volleyball team picked up a dominant 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) victory over Keuka College in tonight's matchup. The Pioneers improved their season record to 4-2.
Isabel Carew led the Alfred State offense with 28 assists, while
Ava Wickes anchored the defense with 11 digs.
Gloria Stem added five digs, while Carew and Tomlinson each recorded two service aces.
Kendall Tompkins tallied nine assists and two digs as the Pioneers offense totaled 39 kills on the night.
Erin Gregoire led the Pios in kills with an impressive nine kills on 11 attacks.
Rebecca Jackson added six kills on 13 attacks, while
Brianny Rodriguez recorded seven kills on 12 attacks.
Alayna Tomlinson also contributed seven kills and five digs.
The Pioneers came out strong against Keuka, setting the tone early, taking the first set 25-19. Alfred continued to control the match and closed out the game with a strong third-set performance to secure the 3-0 sweep.
The Pioneers also held Keuka to just 19 kills and a .134 hitting percentage while recording 41 digs defensively.
Alfred State will return to action as they travel to Albany to take on Russell Sage College Friday, September 11
th at 7PM.
