Collegeville, PA- The Alfred State men's wrestling competed at the Will Abele Men's and Women's Invite as they finished fourth of 12 teams.
Sean Malenfant was the Pioneers top finisher as he took third in the 184 bracket. Malenfant won his first three matches with first round falls, before falling in the semifinals. Malenfant tallied his fourth fall in the third place match as he went on to take third place.
Aaron Johnson took fourth place in the 285 bracket. Johnson opened the day with three straight falls, before falling in the semifinals. Johnson would go on the win the third place match to take third.
Chris Herriman took fourth in the 174 bracket. He opened his day with a second period fall, and followed with a tech fall. He would suffer losses in his next to matches to take fourth place.
Hunter LaVigne took fourth in the 197 weight class. He opened his day with a sudden victory decision win and followed with a 47 second fall. He would suffer back-to-back losses to take fourth place.
Keeran Timerman finished fourth in the 184 bracket. Timerman secured two victories to start the day, before suffering two loses and took fourth.
Also tallying place finishes were:
Kyle Meyer (149) in sixth,
Mason Drew (133) in fifth,
Owen Cummings (157) in fifth, and
Pierce Tran (197) in sixth.
The Pioneers will be back in action on January 24
th as they head to New York City for a Tri-match at Hunter College.
