Johnstown, PA- The Alfred State baseball team sees their season come to a close in the AMCC Championship game. The Pioneers finished the year with a 27-17 overall record.
On the mount, Zachary Nelson suffered the loss. Michael Gangloff came in relief and tallied two strikeouts.
At the plate, Zach Young went 2-5 with a triple and an RBI. Connor Kiefer also came away with a double.
In the top of the first, the Pioneers tallied two runs. Kiefer led off with a double down the left field line. After a sacrifice bunt from Elijah Barinas moved Kiefer to third, Young notched an RBI triple to right field for the 1-0 lead. Then an RBI sacrifice fly from Tyler Korsky made it a 2-0 Pioneer lead.
Behrend answered with five runs in the bottom of the first to take the 5-2 lead. The lions was able to hold the Pios scoreless the rest of the on their way to the 8-2 win.
