Pioneers Break Six Game Winning Streak, Falling To The RedHawks

Pittsburgh, PA- The Alfred State Softball team dropped both games against the La Roche Redhawks after being on a six-game winning streak. This puts the Pios overall record at 8-18, with their conference record sitting at 4-10.

Game one (4-13):

Abby Beidel saw the mound to start for the Pioneers in game one. Hailee Smith came in as a relief in the fourth but to no luck, as Beidel took the loss. At the plate, Madigan Harris contributed, going 2-2 with one RBI and Abbie Millard joined as well, going 1-2 with two RBI's.

ASC jumped on the board first, notching their first run in the first inning. Ma. Harris singled to center, scoring Caley Larsen. La Roche tacked on four runs to respond in the first and third innings, keeping the Pioneers at bay. In the fourth, Liana Dion singled to left, scoring one to which Millard would double to center, grabbing another pair of runs, tying the game 4-4.

In the bottom of the inning, the Redhawks relentlessly tallied nine runs to shut down game one, 13-4.

Game two (3-6):

ASC placed Marissa Ordway in the circle for game two where she only grabbed two strikeouts on the day, taking home the loss. Ma. Harris and Trinity Scott both went 1-3 with one RBI. Nicole Youngberg also aided the team with one RBI.

Again, the Pioneers slated two runs in the first inning off Youngberg and Ma. Harris RBIs. LRU retaliated in the next two innings with five runs of their own, 5-2. It wasn't until the fourth inning that Scott knocked a sac fly to left field, scoring Dion. The Redhawks grabbed one more run in the bottom of the inning and held the Pios scoreless afterwards.

The Pioneers will hit the field this Wednesday for Senior Day against Penn State Behrend. First pitch is set for 3 pm.
