Olean NY, - The Alfred State softball team lost in a tough doubleheader against the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats which moves them to 2-16 on the season and 0-8 in conference.
Game 2: (10-6)
In game two,
Marissa Ordway started on the mound for the Pioneers and suffered the loss. At the plate,
Trinity Scott went 2-3 with a triple, four RBI's and a stolen base.
The Bobcats started the first inning scoring the first run of the game. After some scoreless innings, Pitt-Greensburg tallied seven runs in the top of the fourth inning and followed with two more run in the top of the fifth inning.
Alfred State finally got on the board scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Catherine Kauzala led off the inning with single through the left side, then
Liana Dion singled to left center which advanced Kauzala to second. Then,
Amy Campbell drew a walked which loaded the bases for the Pioneers. Scott notched an RBI single to left field make the game 10-1. Caley Larson followed with an RBI single to left field which made the score 10-2. Two batters later,
Madigan Harris reached first on a fielding error which scored a run for the Pioneers to make the game 10-3.
After holding the Bobcats scoreless, the Pios tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning.
Abby Beidel led off with a single to second base then an
Abigail Marinelli followed with a walk which put runners people on first and second. Campell then reached on an error to load the bases and Scott followed with a bases clearing triple to the left field, which made it a 10-6 game.
The Pios were unable to make a complete comeback and suffered a 10-6 loss to the Bobcats in game two.
Game 1: (1-2)
In game one,
Abby Beidel started on the mound for the Pios and suffered the loss. At the plate Caley Larson went 1-3 with a double and an RBI.
Pioneers got on the board first at the bottom of the first.
Amy Campbell led off with a walk, then stole second a few pitches later. Two batters later Larsen stepped into the box, and notched an RBI double to left field for the 1-0 lead.
The Bobcats answered with a run in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 1-1. Then at the top of the sixth Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats scored again to take the 2-1 lead over the Pioneers.
The Pioneers were unable to answer as they suffered the 2-1 lost to the Bobcats in game one.
The Pios will be on the road at Hilbert tomorrow April 14
th with the first pitch slated for 3 pm.
