Fort Myers, FL- The Alfred State baseball team takes down Dean College 4-3. The Pioneers move to 8-5 on the season.
The Pioneers were led by Zach Young who went 1-4 with three RBIs. Gavin Lasko went 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Daniel Lewis got the win on the mound after pitching 6.0 innings scattering one run over five hits and four strikeouts.
The Pioneers found themselves trailing 2-0 heading into the second. With two outs in the second, Caleb Walker got walked and Lasko followed with an RBI double to left center to make it a 2-1 game.
After holding the Bulldogs scoreless, the Pios scored three runs in the third to take the lead. Jonny Nadolski led off the inning with a bunt single towards third base. Connor Kiefer and Elijah Barinas followed with back-to-back bunts to load the bases. Young stepped in the box and hit a three RBI single to right field for the 4-2 lead.
After a few scoreless innings, the Bulldogs was able to score one late run but could not get any closer as the Pios took the game 4-3. The Pioneers will take to field tomorrow morning at 9 am for a game against Illinois Wesleyan.
