Pioneers Blank Pitt.-Bradford at home

The Alfred State wrestling team beat Pitt.-Bradford 51-0 on Saturday afternoon inside Orvis Gymnasium to move to 7-3 for the season.

Jaden Hansen (Newburgh Free) started the match with an early pin (1:12) at 125, Brandon Tanner (Rush, NY / Rush Henrietta) earned a forfeit win at 133, Dawsen Yates (Bolivar) won with a quick pin (:53) at 141, Sean Peterson (Islip) won with a 10-5 decision at 149 and Justin Smith (Marcus Whitman) earned a win with a pin (1:29) at 157.

Sean Malenfant (Averill Park) battled back from being down, tied it to send it into an extra match and held on for the two-point decision win (8-6) at 165.

Mike Galton (Warsaw) won with a 7-3 decision at 174, Cale Bartosch (Palmyra Macedon) earned a forfeit win at 184, Blake Ilges (Canisteo Greenwood) won with a pin (1:26) at 197 and Nicholas Barrett (Avoca) won with a pin (4:20) at 285.

The Pioneers will head to Ithaca College for the ECWC Championships on Sunday, Jan. 16.
