Bradford, PA – The Alfred State men's soccer team earned a 2-0 road win Tuesday night at Pitt-Bradford. With the victory, the Pioneers improve to 5-2-3 overall and 2-0-0 in AMCC play.
Henry Leahy paced the Pioneers' attack, scoring his seventh goal of the season while recording seven shots. Ryan Masi added his third goal of the year, and Andres Garces contributed an assist. Alexander Preston made 4 saves in goal to earn the shutout.
ASC started strong, controlling possession and creating most of the chances in the first half. The Pioneers fired seven shots compared to Bradford's three. Eric Spring nearly put Alfred State ahead just before halftime when a ball was whipped across the six-yard box, but he was unable to connect, and the teams went into the break scoreless.
The Pioneers maintained their pressure in the second half, registering 10 shots and earning four corners. H.Leahy broke through in the 56th minute, driving a shot into the lower left corner to give ASC a 1-0 lead. The defense kept the Panthers quiet the rest of the way, and Masi sealed the win in the 88th minute with a goal to secure the 2-0 victory
The Pioneers return home to take on La Roche on Saturday, October 4th in another conference match up. Kickoff scheduled for 6:15pm.
