The Alfred State women's soccer team outshot Hilbert 42 to 8 on their way to a 3-0 victory. The Pioneers are now 3-2-1 on the year.
With 5:08 remaining in the 1st half, Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) netted her 4th goal of the season when she sent a hard blast to the left corner on a restart. The blue & gold held a 14 to 4 shot advantage in the half.
Melissa Mineti (Livonia) made it 2-0 n the 59th minut when she found the back of the net after the Hawk goalie punched out a rebound. Carissa Pompa (Rochester/Mercy) added a late insurance goal with just 59 seconds remaining after she headed in a cross from Mikaylah Ruhl (Whitesville). Alfred State outshot Hilbert 28 to 4 in the 2nd half.
Madison Papaj (Holley) made three saves to earn the shutout victory. Brianna Stegmeier made 15 saves for the Hawks.
The Pioneers are right back in action on Saturday when they host Bryant & Stratton. The contest is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Pioneer Stadium.
