Pioneer Men Win Home Invitational

The Alfred State men's outdoor track & field team had an excellent afternoon as they took top honors at the Alfred Invitational. The Pioneer men scored 202 total points to earn 1st place honors in the event that featured athletes from eight schools.

The Pioneers won four events on the day. Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) won the shot put with a throw of 13.62 m. and the discus with a toss of 47.76 m. Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) won the 110 hurdles in 18.51 while the 4x100 relay team of Joe Richardson (Geneva), Jhamel Cohen (Brooklyn/South Shore), Eric Zamor (New York/Ramapo), and Chadwick Ekeigwe (Spring Valley/Ramapo) won in 45.34.

Ruebenstahl was also 2nd in the high jump (1.75 m) and 3rd in the pole vault (4.00 m), Dylan Perlino (Holland) was 2nd in the hammer throw (43.87 m) and 3rd in the discus (39.61 m), and Anders Presthus (Lansing) was 2nd in the discus (39.90 m) and 3rd in the hammer throw (42.60 m)

Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 2nd in the javelin (41.08 m) and was part of the 4x400 relay team that finished 2nd in 3:37.94. He teamed with Nate Robertson (Hamburg), Zamor, and Ekeigwe in the relay.

Joe Richardson was 3rd in the high jump (1.75 m) and 3rd in the triple jump (12.23 m), Ekeigwe was 3rd in the 400 m (53.35), and Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) was 3rd in the steeplechase (10:44.86).

The Pioneers were followed by Alfred University (169.5), Buffalo State (89.5), Canisius (83), Daemen (47), St. Bonaventure (46), Roberts Wesleyan (36), and Penn State Behrend (8).

A trio of multi athletes will head to Hillsdale College on Thursday and Friday to compete in the Gina Relays while the rest of team is next in action on Saturday at St. John Fisher.
