The Alfred State lacrosse program will join the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as an affiliate member starting in the 2020 season.
Director of Athletics Jason Doviak is excited for the affiliation with the NEAC. "Joining the NEAC as an affiliate member finalizes our quest to secure conference affiliations for each NCAA sport we sponsor. Every program now has an opportunity to compete in a post-season conference event with access to NCAA Championships. This is a terrific opportunity for our men's lacrosse student-athletes as we continue to enhance their experience at the Division III level. I would like to thank President Rogers, Commissioner Poiss Murray, the NEAC Presidents Council, and the NEAC AD's for accepting Alfred State as a member as well as the support they provided throughout the process. We look forward to competing against our fellow members during the spring of 2020."
Alfred State President Skip Sullivan echoed Doviak's excitement. "We are pleased that our student-athletes have a home for lacrosse in the NEAC. We look forward to the relationship with the other colleges and we are grateful to the NEAC for providing this opportunity."
Current members of the NEAC in men's lacrosse include Cazenovia, Hilbert, Keuka, Medaille, Morrisville, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Poly, and Wells. In 2019, the Pioneers are scheduled to play everyone in the league except Morrisvlle and Cobleskill.
