Kylie Bierman and Rebecca Straub have joined the Alfred State athletic training staff this summer as the 2017-18 school year begins.
"We are thrilled that Kylie and Rebecca are joining our staff as assistant athletic trainers," commented director of athletic Jason Doviak. "They both bring great experience and energy to our department and I know our student-athletes will benefit from their knowledge and enthusiasm."
Bierman most recently was an assistant athletic trainer at Alfred University. Her duties included treatment and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries, communicating with team physicians and insurance companies, documentation, and directly overseeing student athletic trainers.
Bierman is a 2016 graduate of Alfred University where she received her bachelor of science in athletic training. She is certified by NYS and the NATA. During her time as a student, she performed internships within the athletic training departments at Alfred University, Alfred State, and Houghton. She also was an intern with the Hornell Fire Department.
Bierman has been very active working in collegiate summer baseball. She was the head athletic trainer for the Wellsville Nitros (NYCBL) in 2017 and the Jamestown Jammers (PGCBL) in 2016.
Bierman will work the Pioneer football team and the men's soccer team this fall.
Straub recently earned her masters degree in athletic training from Gannon University (Erie, PA) after earning a bachelors degree in sport and exercise science.
She has clinical experience at Gannon (Football/Women's Basketball), Edinboro University (Men's & Women's Basketball and Football), and at Iroquois High School (softball baseball, track & field, basketball, wrestling, and swimming). She also spent time at Eberle's Physical Therapy (Edinboro, PA) and St. Vincent Sports Medicine.
Straub is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association.
