Pioneers Finish 5th at RIT

Emily Brigman goes over a hurdle

The Alfred State women's indoor track & field team finished 5th at the RIT Early February Invitational. The Pioneers scored 56 points in the event.

Emily Brigman (Lancaster) was 2nd in the 60 hurdles (10.00) while Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) was 4th (10.58). Brigman was also 5th in the high jump (1.46 m). Veronica Dailey (Addison) was 2nd in the 1,000 (3:26.93) and Molly Heaphy (West Hempstead/Long Island Lutheran) was 3rd ( 3:56.72). Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 4th in the 800 (2:49.55) while Katherine Watkins (Addison) was 5th (2:56.50). Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis) was 8th in the 400 (73.71)

The 4x400 relay team of Betsy Butlak (Lake Shore), Frascella, and Sly, won in 5:20.46 while the 4x200 relay team was 5th in 2:01.81.

Parts of the track and field team will head to the Boston University meet next weekend.
