The Alfred State women's soccer team scored four 2nd half goals as they hopped past SUNY Canton 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win evens the Lady Pioneers record at 4-4.
Julia Yanarella (Wappingers Falls/Roy Ketcham) scored in the 37th minute to get the Lady Pioneers on the board. She received a through ball from Michayla Salatel (Geneseo), juggled the ball, and shot into the back of the net.
Dannielle O'Buckley (Queens/Ansbach) put the game out of reach with a pair of pretty plays. She scored in the 54th minute on a shot that hit the left post and in after getting a pass from Salatel. She then set up Brooke Geibel's (Arkport) goal 3:14 later with a long cross. Geibel headed the ball into the net for her 3rd of the season.
Melissa Mineti (Livonia) scored at the 78:56 mark after getting a loss pass from Jenna Martin (Cattaraugus Little Valley). 40 seconds later, Karley Trotta (Massapequa/Plainedge) scored on a shot that hit the cross bar and in. Jessica Rowe (Jasper Troupsburg) had the assist.
The Pioneers held a 32 to 2 shot advantage in the game. Allison Danielak (Brockport) earned her 3rd shutout of the season by making one save.
Kelsi Gilbert made 14 saves for the Kangaroos (1-7)
The blue & gold are back in action on Sunday when they battle Penn State Beaver in Monaco, PA at Noon.
