  • Varela Earns NFCA All-Region Honors

    Alfred State freshman outfielder Marissa Varela (Egg Harbor TWP, NJ) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Northeast All-Region 1st team. Varela is the first Pioneer to ever be honored by the NFCA.
  • Athletic Department Hands Out End of Year Awards

    The Alfred State athletic department celebrated the 2018-19 athletic year recently by hosting the End of Year Award ceremonies. 
  • Varela and Fisher Honored by the ACAA

    Marissa Varela (Egg Harbor Twp, NJ) and Brittany Fisher (Indianapolis, IN) have earned All-ACAA honors. Varela was named the ACAA Rookie of the Year and was a 1st team selection while Fisher was selected as a 2nd team honoree as both a second basemen and a pitcher.
  • Pioneers Win Thriller over Finlandia - Finish 2nd at ACAA Championships

    The Alfred State softball team defeated Finlandia 3-2 on a walk-off single by Jamie Parente (Mt. Sinai) to advance to the ACAA Championship Series. In the championship game, Thomas More scored 10 unanswered to claim the ACAA title with a 10-2 victory.
  • Pioneers Split on Day One of ACAA Tournament

    The Alfred State softball team split a pair of games on day one of the ACAA Tournament. Finlandia scored three in the 6th to earn a 7-4 victory in the opener but the Pioneers rebounded for a 6-0 victory over SUNY Delhi in an elimination game.

    Morgan Franklin (Wellsville) and Colin Johnson (Alfred Almond) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of the Week.
  • Softball Weekend Set vs. SUNY Delhi Cancelled

    The wintry weather mix that is hitting the area has forced the cancellation of the Alfred State softball four-game series vs. SUNY Delhi. The games will not be made up.
  • Houghton Downs Pioneers
    April 23, 2019
    Houghton College took a pair from Alfred State on a wet Tuesday afternoon. The Highlanders scored two in the 6th to take the opener 3-1 and then took the nightcap 9-1.
  • Franklin Collects Four Hits vs. D'Youville
    April 22, 2019
    Morgan Franklin (Wellsville) was 4 for 6 with a pair of walks as Alfred State battled D'Youville in Buffalo on Monday. The Spartans were able to pick up 7-4 and 8-2 victories.
  • Softball Earns #3 Seed for ACAA Tournament

    The Alfred State softball team will host the 2019 ACAA Championship and will be the #3 seed in the tournament. The championships will be held May 4-5 at Pioneer Park above Pioneer Stadium.
  • Hawks Down Pioneers in Rain Shortened Game

    Hilbert collected 14 hits as they defeated Alfred State 6-0 in a rain shortened game on Friday afternoon. The contest was called when heavy rains started in the bottom of the 6th inning.
  • Pioneers Rally to Win Opener, Split with Keuka
    April 09, 2019
    The Alfred State softball team scored four runs in the 7th to rally for a 7-5 victory over Keuka in the opener of their road doubleheader on Tuesday. The Wolves took game two 11-3.
  • Varela Named ECAC Player of the Month

    Marissa Varela (Egg Harbor Twp, NJ) made the most of her first month of being a collegiate softball player. For her strong performance, she has been named the ECAC North Player of the Month.
  • Pioneers Fall in Home Opener

    The Alfred State softball team couldn't get the offense going as they opened up the home portion of their season vs. Pitt Bradford. The Panthers scored a run in the 7th to win the opener 1-0 and then used a big 3rd inning in a 11-1 victory in the nightcap.

    Danny Doran (Irondequoit), Arianna Traugott (Elmira), and Nic Covelli (Carmel) have been named the Alfred State Athletes of Week.

    Morgan Franklin (Wellsville) has been named the ACAA Player of the Week. This is the second straight week a Pioneer has earned the honor.
  • Offense Explodes in Sweep

    The Alfred State team ran their winning streak to four games as the offense exploded for a pair of victories at the University of Valley Forge on Saturday. The Pioneers are now 6-6 on the season following 19-1 and 20-1 victories over the Patriots.

  • Pioneers Close out Florida Trip with Sweep

    The Alfred State softball team ended their spring training trip to the Gene Cusic Classic with a sweep. They won on a walk-off 5-4 over SUNY Canton and then used the big inning in the nightcap to defeat Knox 15-7.
  • Softball Races Past NJCU - Falls in Extras to Rockford

    The Alfred State softball team split a pair of games on day four of action at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, FL. The Pioneers scored in every at bat as they defeated New Jersey City 13-1 before losing a tight 7-5 extra inning contest vs. Rockford. 
  • Pioneers Battle Tough but Can't Hold Leads

    The Alfred State softball team battled tough on Monday as they held leads early in both of their contests. The Pioneers fell 11-5 to Lesley (MA) and 11-3 to Western Connecticut.
  • Pioneers Continue Spring Break Trip
    March 10, 2019
    The Alfred State softball team couldn't overcome the big inning as they fell in both of their games on day two of the Gene Cusic Classic. The Pioneers fell 11-6 to Curry (MA) College and 9-1 to Kenyon (OH) in games played in Naples, FL.
