Pioneers Battle Cavaliers

Battling in the fly

The Alfred State men's swimming team battled tough vs. Cabrini on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers fell just short as they fell to the Cavaliers 153-107.

Ethan Dale (Lock Haven) led the way for the Pioneers. He won the 100 breast (1:04.93) and the 200 breast (2:24.13). He was also 2nd in the 400 IM (4:38.86).

Tim Olin (Perry) won the 100 back (58.80) and was 2nd in the 50 free (23.40) while Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chil) was 2nd in the 1,000 free (11:18.16) and 2nd in the 500 free (5:32.05). Nate Miller (Gananda) was 2nd in the 100 free (53.83) and Ryan McDowell (Gananda) was 2nd in the 100 fly (59.64).

The 200 medley relay team of Olin, Dale, Miller, and Ryan Brophy (Midlakes) was 2nd in 1:45.85) while the 400 free relay team of Eckrich, Brophy, Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ), and Aaron Priel (Pioneer) was 2nd in 3:45.39.

The Pioneers are back in action on Thursday when they begin action in the three day Fredonia Invitational.
