Scott Linn was named the head football coach for the Pioneers in March of 2018. Linn became the 4th coach in the history of the football program at Alfred State.
Linn comes to Alfred State with a wealth of experience, having coached 12 years at the collegiate level. During his career, he has guided 37 players to All-Conference honors, two players to Conference Player of the Year Awards, eight players to All-Region accolades, six players to All-American recognition, and one player to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Team.
Most recently, Linn spent the previous four seasons as the Offensive Coordinator at Alfred University. During his tenure, Alfred University tied a school record for most wins during a four-year span, including a 12-1 campaign in 2016 that saw the Saxons reach the NCAA quarterfinals. In total, Alfred University would set 19 new offensive school records during Linn’s time running the offense.
Prior to working on the Alfred University coaching staff, Linn spent from 2009-2014 on the coaching staff at Hartwick College. During his time there, he held numerous roles, including assistant head coach (2012-14), special teams coordinator (2012-2014), recruiting coordinator (2012-2014), defensive backs coach (2012-2014), strength and conditioning coordinator (2011-2014), academic coordinator (2011-2014), linebackers coach (2011-2012), and defensive line coach (2009-2011).
Linn started his coaching career at Albion College (Albion, MI) as a tight ends and fullbacks coach for his alma mater in 2006. The following year, he moved on to Alfred University, to be a graduate assistant. Linn spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons mentoring the Alfred University running backs.
On the playing field, Linn was a fullback on a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association conference champion team at Albion College. At Albion, he earned a bachelor's degree in physical education. While at Alfred University, he earned a master's degree in education.
Linn has been a member of the American Football Coaches Association since 2007 and been active in community service projects with Hornell Concern for Youth, Read Across America, and Be the Match.
