Alfred State Club Archery


The Alfred State Archery Team is a competitive club sport and an active member of the USA Archery Collegiate Archery Program.  The team competes in events year-round determined by archer interest.  Events include indoor target (18m), indoor 3D (35 & 50 yards), outdoor target (55m), and outdoor 3D (both known and unknown distances). The team has both dedicated indoor and outdoor range space.  The Alfred State Archery Team is a subset of the Alfred State Archers club, a student senate-recognized student organization that operates many on campus events including Try Archery, open range nights, and local leagues.

Recent events/news:

Alfred State Archery sends one to prestigious Lancaster Classic

January 2017:  Alfred State sent one if its top archers to the prestigious Lancaster Archery Classic, an international tournament that drew over 1000 archers including the sport’s top pros.  Competing in the Men’s Bowhunter Class, archer Trystan Duell finished 32nd (out of 59) with an impressive combined score of 607 (out of a possible 660).

Alfred State Archery has strong showing in New York State Indoor Championships

February 2017: Four members of the Alfred State Archery Team competed in the New York State Archery Association’s Indoor Championships.  In the collegiate compound unlimited division, Alfred State took the three top spots in the championship.  Archers Jacob Patanella, Hunter Egger, and Mason Mohney took the first through third places, respectively.  In the collegiate barebow division, Archer Ethan Fredrick took top honors finishing first. The tournament, organized by the New York State Archery Association, was held in Alden, New York.

Alfred State Archery competes in full force at the WinterCam Classic

March 2017: All eight members of the Alfred State Archery team traveled to Rochester, NY for the WinterCam Classic at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus. While all eight members competed in the indoor 3D tournament, one also took part in the 5-Spot target tournament.  The tournament, fast becoming a premier event in the northeast, hosted several hundred archers competing across an array of divisions.  Notables include Peter Parkhurst taking first place in the men’s hunter division in the 5-Spot tournament.  Archer Trystan Duell finished 75th (of 112) in the highly competitive men’s open class (maximum distance 50 yards).  In the men’s hunter class for 3D (max distance 35 yards), archer Jacob Patanella was Alfred’s top finisher in 69th (of 126).
