Men's Cross Country: Men 19th at Geneseo Invitational

Shawn Rutledge (Watkins Glen) led the way for the men's cross country team as they competed at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo. 308 athletes competed in the 8k course at Letchworth State Park. Rutledge finished 110th overall with a time of 28:16.5 while Ryan Lohr (West Seneca West) was 161st (29:13.9). The men's team finished 19th out of the 23 teams.

Women's Cross Country: Women 15th at Geneseo Invitational

The women's cross country team finished 15th at the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by Geneseo at Letchworth State Park. The Pioneers scored 430 point in the event that featured 232 finishers from 19 teams. Veronica Dailey (Addison) led the way for the blue & gold on the 6k course. She crossed the finish line in 25:06.1. Julia Russell (Candor) was 88th in 25:21.7.

Football: 0-5

Six turnovers slowed down Alfred State as they lost their ECFC opener 44-26 at Dean College on Saturday afternoon.

Dashown Wilson (Bronx/DeWitt Clinton) capped a 11-play, 97-yard drive with a one-yard run to give Alfred State a 6-0 lead with 7:22 remaining in the opening quarter. After the Bulldogs tied the game, Ronnie Clark (Philadelphia/Indian River) scored from 39-yards out to give the Pioneers back the lead. Dean answered with three more scores in the 2nd quarter and the only points in the 3rd quarter to take a 32-12 lead. Both teams traded scoring drives in the 4th quarter. Wilson scored from three-yards out to cap an 80-yard drive and connected with Jalen Long (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) on a 10-yard scoring play to account for the Pioneer points.

Wilson finished with 97 yards and two scores rushing and was 17 for 33 for 193 yards passing. Clark had 81 yards on the ground on 10 carries and Long recorded his 3rd 100-yard game finishing with seven catches for 119 yards and a score.

Kyle Backert (Staten Island/Petrides) and Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) both had seven tackles for the Pioneers. Backert was also credited with a fumble recovery.

Men's Soccer: 1-7-1

The blue & gold fell in both of their matches this week. They fell 3-0 at Medaille and then returned home for the first time in four weeks and were tripped up by Pine Manor 3-1.

Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made seven saves vs. Medaille while Justus Hoffmann (Hamburg) scored the lone goal vs. Pine Manor.

Women's Soccer: 5-2-2

The women's soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to four games with a pair of shutout victories this week. They defeated SUNY Canton 2-0 and then downed Villa Maria 9-0.
 
Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) scored three goals this week including both scores in the victory over Canton. Mackenzie Congdon (Hornell) had a goal and two assists vs. Villa Maria while Jessica Williams (Belfast scored a pair of goals). Ten different Pioneers recorded points this week.
 
In net, Madison Papaj (Holley) made three saves in the shutout vs. Canton and Kathryn Parsons (York) recorded the shutout vs. Villa.
 
Volleyball: 6-6

Madison Webster (Corning) and Kiara Perkins (Coudersport, PA) both collected 19 kills as Alfred State competed at the Houghton tri-match on Saturday. The Pioneers fell 25-22, 25-22, 25-15 to LaRoche and was tripped up 25-17, 19-25, 25-18, 25-20 by the hosts.

Webster led the Pioneers with 10 kills and 21 digs in the match vs. LaRoche. Perkins added nine kills and three service aces. Sarah Raichlin (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) passed out 28 assists and Jordan Stauffeneker (Lansing) finished with 14 digs. Versus Houghton, Perkins led the team with 10 kills while adding seven digs and three service aces. Webster finished with nine kills, 11 digs, and five service aces. Raichlin passed out 31 assists and had 11 digs, Stauffeneker had 15 digs, and both Isabella Slocum (Hornell) and Alyssa Martin(Portville) were credited with six kills.
