The Alfred State athletic department was out in full force this past weekend getting in the spirit of the season by giving time, money, and resources to the community.
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted a Sock Toss during the basketball doubleheader on Friday vs. Houghton. Socks were collected and monetary donations were accepted as fans threw paris of socks at targets during halftime of each contest. The socks collected will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House and to the Wilmot Cancer Center while the money raised will be donated to Go4theGoal organization.
The women's basketball team partnered with Go4theGoal on Friday evening to raise awareness and money for the fight against pediatric cancer.
The men's basketball team spent Saturday morning completing the fall yard work at the Union University Church in Alfred.
Members of the football team spent part of their Friday evening ringing the Salvation Army bells in front of Walmart.
The student-atheltes and the athletic department have been committed to helping those in the community and look forward to more opportunities in the future.
