Sophomore softball player Allison Gibson (Arkport) and sophomore baseball player Thomas Shofi (Carmel) have been named the Alfred State #PioneerPinpoint athletes of the week. The duo had solid performances during their teams spring break trips.
Gibson appeared in all 12 games and led the Lady Pioneers with a .441 batting average (15 for 34). She collected a double and drove in five runs while scoring seven runs. She also was 5 for 5 in stolen base attempts. On top of her offensive accomplishments, Gibson made several run saving plays from her third base position.
Shofi hit .480 (12 for 25) in the Pioneers eight games at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, SC. He collected two doubles, a triple, and a homer. He collected 19 total bases (.650 slugging percentage) and drew five walks (.581 on-base percentage). On the season, Shofi is hitting .412 (14 for 34).
